She Has Skied Her Whole Life

Marte Olsbu represents Froland, Norway which is located in Aust-Agder county and sits on the Southeast coast of Norway. Skiing in Norway seems to be a way of life more than a sport because of the weather and the cold, snowy climate. In the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, Norway took home a record 39 medals, more than any other nation in the history of the games, and over twice as many as the US. The above photo shows the Norwegian medalist skiing at a young age which is probably something children in Norway are taught to do, most likely before they can even walk. Although she has skied since a very young age, she didn’t break out into the world of professional skiing until 2013, when she debuted in the World Cup season that year through 2014. Since then, she has been a mainstay of Norwegian skiing, eventually bringing her to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. When she is not traveling for her skiing, she remains in Froland, where she is currently planning her 2018 wedding.

The Biathlete Has a Strong Social Following

At 27 years old, it makes sense that she would be very active on social media and especially for athletes, it is a great way to gain exposure and connect with your fans. It’s not enough to just be an athlete anymore because there is so much competition for exposure and sponsors, which all have an impact in an athlete’s success. Marte has over 12k followers on her Instagram but does not seem to have a Twitter account. The Norwegian medalist and World Cup athlete posted a photo of her holding her two silver medals from Pyeongchang on March 25 thanking all of her fans for their support.
