Ezra Miller’s Credence in Fantastic Beasts: 5 Things to Note

Ezra Miller pays no credence to gender labels. In a non-binary universe – Fantastic Beasts & other adventures; he’s proving he’s no flash in the pan.

1. Ezra Miller’s Credence Barebone Is Critical To Fantastic Beasts

If you’re a fan of actor Ezra Miller, than you would know that he is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. When Ezra Miller was promoting Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2016; his nerd rage was adorable on MTV, during an interview. For Ezra Miller, it is the culmination of his childhood dream to join the Harry Potter universe on JK Rowling’s much-anticipated prequel, Fantastic Beasts. In fact, Ezra Miller is playing a character that is absolutely pivotal to the backstory of the entire Harry Potter universe. Ezra Miller brings his amazing acting talent to the fore and embodies the character of Credence Barebone, who let’s just say, has major rage issues. One could say that Credence Barebone is similar to Voldemort, when it comes to torrents of uncontrollable anger. SPOILER ALERT: Ezra Miller is officially part of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel. That’s quite a feat considering in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, Part 1, Credence Barebone appeared to have DIED. All in all, 2017 is shaping up to be a Fantastic Beast of a year for Ezra Miller, who is playing the Flash in Justice League, recently released worldwide.

“It’s an amazing thing to be able to fall into the world of your childhood fantasy.”

2. Ezra Miller Made Justice League Cool: The Flash

The best thing about Justice League is Ezra Miller as the Flash. Miller’s character brings much-needed comic relief to Justice League. His reviews were so effusive for Justice League, that the Flash is getting his own movie in 2020, called “Flashforward.” Every scene is stolen by Ezra Miller in Justice League and he brings warmth and joy to the role of the Flash, with his socially awkward charms. Hell, he even makes the wooden performance of Ben Affleck come to life; and THAT’S no easy feat.

Flash In The Pan: Doubtless

Actor Ezra Miller is set to make movie history by starring in “Flashpoint,” the stand alone action flick on the Flash. He’s also the first queer actor to play a superhero. Ezra Miller will star in the movie, slated for release in 2020.

3. Credence Barebone: Obscurial & Voldemort Rumors

Join me for a moment as I nerd out. The biggest reveal about Fantastic Beasts is that Credence Barebone may be Voldemort’s father. The movie is set in 1926 and the timeline seems right. We all know that Voldemort is a terrifying character that haunted and hunted the magicians in Harry Potter. That Voldemort is the personification of evil, is an understatement. And now, with the Fantastic Beasts and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel, Credence Barebone is indeed alive, in spite of becoming an obscurus. What is an obscurus? It is basically a situation that occurs when a wizard is suppressing their power. The suppression creates a negative force and ultimately leads to the self-destruction of the unfortunate soul. Fan theories have it that Credence Barebone is the father of Voldemort, and that is certainly a possibility. The problem with this theory is that Voldemort is a pure blood prince and although Credence Barebone is adopted, it doesn’t explain the connection, since he has a human lineage – that is, a non magician, or muggle, conceived him with a wizard. I personally purport that Credence Barebone is the is the grandfather of Snape. The Snape theory is basically because he was born to a muggle and a witch. Eileen Prince was born in the 1930’s and it just fits the timeline for her to have been conceived by Credence Barebone. And we now know that Ezra Miller has signed on to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel. I’m not giving any spoilers away because the director David Heyman confirmed Ezra Miller’s return to pretty much ALL FIVE of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. The major point about Fantastic Beasts and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel, is that it is the nexus, the absolute connection to Harry Potter and gives audience’s a clue as to Ariana Dumbledore’s fate. Dumbledore’s sister killed their mother by being an obscurus and is the very reason that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had such bad blood between them. So, whether you think Credence Barebone is Voldemort’s father or the grandfather of Snape, one thing is for sure: Credence Barebone is absolutely the glue that tethers Fantastic Beasts, and the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them sequel, to the Harry Potter universe. We can look forward to seeing what Ezra Miller brings to the table in the follow-up, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel, due for release in 2018.

“An Obscurus is developed under very specific conditions: trauma associated with the use of magic, internalised hatred of one’s own magic and a conscious attempt to suppress it.”
—J.K. Rowling[1]

Barebone The Obscurial

SPOILER ALERT: When a wizard lives in suppression; his dark side is transformed into an entity that is destructive.

“Before wizards went underground, when we were still being hunted by muggles, young wizards and witches sometimes tried to suppress their magic to avoid persecution. So instead of learning to harness or to control their powers, they developed what was called an Obscurus.”

4. The 411 On Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Sequel

The poster to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel clearly shows Ezra Miller. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel is due for release in November 2018. SPOILER ALERT: That means that Credence Barebone doesn’t die at the end of Fantastic Beasts. The fact that Credence Barebone doesn’t meet his peril completely squashes the theory that an obscurus kills the wizard that is unfortunate enough to experience it. But that’s JK Rowling for you. The masterful storyteller is in full control of her creative universe. The actual title is called “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” Warner Bros. has unveiled the first photo and title for the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sequel: “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” Warner Bros has also confirmed that there will be a whopping FIVE films in the prequel to Harry Potter series. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel boasts a major all-star cast with Jude Law playing Albus Dumbledore and Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald. It will be interesting to see what happens with the character of Credence Barebone and how he interacts with the dark wizard that pre-dates the heinous Voldemort, Grindelwald. Grindelwald and Credence Barebone as a team certainly would make heinous bad guys for the Fantastic Beasts series to have to fight. Fantastic Beasts was a worldwide hit, making $814 million and Warner Bros. can be assured of the similar success of the sequel. Speaking of the sequels; it looks like Ezra Miller is going to be busy for quite some time to come, between playing Credence Barebone and the Flash, due 2018 and 2020 respectively.

The Official Cast Picture Of Fantastic Beasts Sequel

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel will be released on Nov. 16, 2018. It is one of FIVE prequels that are slated to be produced. It’s very exciting to see the books coming to life, filling in all the blanks about the backstory of Harry Potter.

5. Ezra Miller Is The First Queer Action Hero

Having spent his childhood being bullied for being different means that Ezra Miller has rather tough skin. He is incapable of being inauthentic. There is no deep-rooted need within Ezra Miller to confirm that he is queer; he simply IS. It appears that the embracing of a label is more of a problem for those outside the eye of the storm than it is for Ezra Miller, himself. Clearly Miller is very comfortable these days in his own skin. The more obvious answer is that Ezra Miller is getting ahead of the story and owning it for himself. Ezra Miller is the poster child for millennials everywhere by making it a non-issue in his life. By doing so, he engenders the same relief in others. To remove the pressure off himself is to also remove any stigma and that act is as brilliant as when Madonna, years ago, had a two word response to the press finding out that she had posed nude: “So what?” Now, Ezra Miller is poised to elegantly helm his own movie – the stand alone flick “Flashforward.” By stepping up to the plate, Miller is a groundbreaker, in that he will become the first queer action hero. For Miller – it’s a non-issue; as it should be in this day and age for an actor to embody any role he or she wants to, regardless of their sexuality. And by the way, by choosing the label “queer” is because Ezra Miller eschews the constriction of ANY label. At least this one comes with a measure of personal freedom. Thank you for moving the needle beyond the paradigms and restrictions of labels, Mr Ezra Miller. You’re doing great work!

“Folks in the industry, folks outside the industry. People I’ve never spoken to. They said there’s a reason so many gay, queer, gender-fluid people in Hollywood conceal their sexual identity or their gender identity in their public image. I was told I had done a ‘silly’ thing in thwarting my own potential to be a leading man.”

Actor Ezra Miller: Study Of An Intellectual

Oh the places he will go…

It’s Miller Time

Breaking gender barriers is a non-sequiteur for actor Ezra Miller. The star admitted to being bullied growing up and a lot of it may be due to his non-binary gender fluidity. Ezra Miller has taken the bold step of identifying as “queer.” Such an assertion in very recent times, was a death knoll to an actor’s career and Ezra himself admitted he was warned not to do it so early in his career. It should be noted that Ezra Miller listened to Harry Potter books when he was growing up and it helped boost his self-esteem, as a result. Well, it appears that Ezra Miller has the last laugh, because he will be starring in no less than FOUR major action movies in less than three years. To re-cap: In 2016 he played Credence Barebone in Fantastic Beasts, the Flash in Justice League, in 2017, then in 2018 he resumes his role of Credence Barebone in Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Sequel and if that’s not enough, Ezra Miller will star as the Flash and become the first queer action hero to carry a movie, in Flashforward – a big-budget movie for the DC universe. That’s a long way to come for Ezra Miller, who was bullied as a teen for being different. Viva la difference.

“In those years of bullying, I would come home and listen to Harry Potter for a few to several hours every single day while I ate instant ramen [noodles].”

Ezra Miller on his childhood and how he coped with bullying by listening to Harry Potter

“I guess I identify as queer because I don’t need to be assigned to what it is I can do or who I can love. And it seems like we keep drawing these battle lines which are completely unnecessary. So that’s what I basically mean. When I say I’m queer, I’m saying that I think human beings are amazing. And love is an honor and an opportunity. And a fragile thing. A fragile process in which there’s no room for doubt, or shame, or hatred.”
