Jasmine Jordan is the youngest daughter of American NBA professional basketball player Michael Jordan. Her life has been always under the microscope due to the fame and tall statue of her father. Let us dissect her life and see what all she has faced due to being born as the daughter of a famous father.
Jasmine Jordan’s birth and family
Jasmine Jordan was born to parents NBA player Michael Jordan and his ex-wife Juanita Vanoy. Being the daughter of such a great personality and celebrity, she has lived a wonderful life. But with such a life there are also inherent challenges. Her birth was on 7 December 1992 in Chicago, the USA and she has two brothers namely Jeffrey and Marcus Jordan. Her parents divorced in 2006 and her father went on to date and later in 2013 married model Yvette Prieto. Jasmine has twin half-sisters; Ysabel and Victoria Jordan.
Jasmine Jordan was a student at Syracuse University. She started attending the SU in fall of 2011 and did a major in sports management from this university. She had told to ‘The Boss Up’, a Chicago-based blog:
“Syracuse has the best program in my eyes,”
Being a celebrity kid, it was but natural for her to get more attention from everyone around. But Jasmine had revealed that she did not like the special attention given to her at the University. She, in fact, hated it and did not want her classmates to know who she was. She had told The Boss Up:
“When I first got here I honestly hated it. About a month or so before I officially moved in, there was an article written about me coming to Syracuse and next thing I know the world knew where I was going. I had over 1,000 Facebook requests and who knows how many Twitter followers I gain. Needless to say, that article brought unwanted attention on me and it made my first year hard because everyone knew my face and assumed they knew my story as well.”
At times, Jasmine was also looked down and received ‘dirty looks’ from people around her. There used to be whispers and push-ups when she used to pass by her university people and she had even considered dropping out or getting a transfer to another university due to it. It was a hard first year for her. But she braved it all and decided to concentrate on her studies and trying with all her might to complete her graduation early. She surmised her three years at SU thus:
“I knew if I transferred it would bring more attention to me and if I dropped out I’d be going against my promise I made to my parents that I would graduate. I got through the entire BS and reached my goal. I think if people would have just let me live, my college experience would’ve been better but I don’t regret coming to Syracuse because I still had a great three years, met great people, and now I graduate this year with a lot of life experience under my belt.”
Jasmine Jordan was the host at the University’s basketball team’s Midnight Madness Event.
Jasmine knew all the perils of her being born a celebrity kid. She overcame all her problems and graduated from the SU with a degree. She was determined to make it big in the world. She told The Boss Up blog:
“It’s hard knowing that your family is always living under a microscope. [But I’m] humble, grateful, and thankful for the life I have.”
Jasmine Jordan is hugely followed on her social media accounts such as Instagram and Twitter. She has 18k fans on her Twitter handle and more than 59.4k followers on Instagram. She wants to set her own legacy. She has not stepped into her new role as the brand ambassador of her father’s sneaker brand Air Jordan and she is doing it in the Charlotte area, North Carolina.
