Ange Postecoglou is the Greek-Australian football player and current head coach of the Socceroos. Ange has been one of the most successful coaches of the Australian National Soccer Team and has taken the team to several wins which include two premierships, 4 championships and also a continental title. All this needs hard work and dedication which Ange has and has given it to his team. Ange’s Birth Facts, Education and Growing Years
Ange Postecoglou was born on 27 August 1965 in Nea Filadelfeia, Athens, Greece. His father Dimitris or Jim owned business in Athens but lost it when there was a military coup in Greece in 1967. The family emigrated to Australia and settled in Melbourne, Victoria. Ange was just 5 years old at that time. Ange was extremely fond of football and used to play Australian Rules football during his childhood and college days.
Ange’s Career and Net Worth
Ange Postecoglou joined the Carlton Football Club when he was nine-years-old. He played nearly 200 games for South Melbourne over the period 1984-1993. He played in the defender position and also took his team to win titles (1984, 1990-1991). During the 1990-1991 game, Ange had captained the team. He then switched to coaching.
Ange not only played at the national level but he also represented his country at the international level. He was part of the national team which played outside Australia on four occasions between1986 to 1988.
Ange started coaching South Melbourne in 1996 and did so till 2000. Under his tutelage, the team won titles in 1997–98 and 1998–99 and also won the 1999 Oceania Club Championship. Due to this, the team could take part in the 2000 FIFA Club World Championship. His great talent landed him the role of a coach for the Australian Youth Team. Ange had the skill and acumen to identify and develop the best players. In 2007, he was relieved of these duties.
Ange then started working on Fox Sports as an expert and also served as an elite consultant to Federation Football Victoria. He did a short stint with the Panachaiki. In October 2009, he was appointed the coach for the Brisbane Roar team. He rebuilt the team and was a hard-arse type of a coach who gave the team several prestigious wins. He was the only coach who had 4 national titles. He resigned in 2012.
Ange then took over for three years as the head coach of Melbourne Victory. Here too, he revamped the team and took them to wins. In 2013, he got the position of head coach for the National Team for five years.
At the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the Australian team played extremely well and gave a tough fight to the players of the other national teams. Australia won the 2016 AFC Asian Cup. Now with the approaching FIFA World Cup in Russia, it is not known whether Ange would e there for his team or quit. There have been rumors that he is not continuing due to his strained relations with the management. However, Ange denied any such issues and said:
“A lot of people try to make out that I have some sort of a broken relationship with David Gallop or that. That’s not how it works. I don’t work with people to become friends. I need to be supported to do what I need to do, and they’ve supported me 100 per cent.”
He also said that the matter would be resolved within a week and that he has always been honest with his fans and the people.

Ange Postecoglou is married to Georgia and they have two sons from this relationship. Elder son is James who is 18 years old now. He too plays basketball. His younger son, Max is just 3 years old. He is in a happy personal space and his family often joins him during his tours with the Australian national football team.
