Who is Reg E. Cathey?

Reginald Eurias Cathey was born in February 2018. He was an American actor of stage, television, and films. Cathey was popularly known as Reg. He shot to fame with his roles as Norman Wilson in ‘The Wire’, as Martin Querns in ‘Oz’, Dr. Franklin Storm in the 2015 reboot of ‘Fantastic Four’, and Freddy Hayes in ‘House of Cards’. He won three consecutive Emmy Award nominations for his work in ‘House of Cards’ for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He also won an Emmy Award for the same in 2015. Cathey was born in Huntsville, Alabama to father Red Cathey, an Army Colonel. His father fought in three wars including World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. His mother was a DOD worker and educator. Cathey also had a sister named Donza. Cathey spent his childhood on a rural farm with his family in West Germany before returning to Alabama when he was 14 years old. At the age of 9, his interest in theater grew after he attended a United Service Organization Show in West Germany. Cathey graduated from J. O. Johnson High School where he acted in plays such as ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. He also studied theater at the University of Michigan and at the Yale School of Drama. Cathey’s death occurred at his home in New York City on February 9, 2018. He was 59 at the time of his death. He was battling lung cancer.
