Maria Victoria, a lesser known wife of once most cocaine smuggler, late Pablo Escobar had never left her husband. Despite Pablo Escobar’s numerous criminal records and extramarital affairs, she was always ready to support her husband. However, Maria’s life drastically changed from enjoying immense wealth and escaping death to Escobar life, after Pablo Escobar’s death in the year 1993.

Pablo Escobar who was known as the king of Cocaine, Escobar entered Colombian politics offering to pay a national debt of US$ 10 billion. He died on 2nd of December, 1993 in Medellin Colombia. After the exile in Argentina, Maria Victoria Henao changed her name to Maria Isabel Santos Caballero to elude the police. She kept her identity a low profile in a Buenos Aires apartment with her two children. She has a son and a daughter.
Even her son changed his name to Sebastian Marroquin. He is now an architect, designer, lecturer, and author as well who wrote Pablo Escobar.
However, their identities couldn’t remain hidden for a much longer period of time and in the year 1999, Argentina’s government came to know the truth. In 2000, Maria and her son were charged with money laundering. They were also imprisoned for about 15 months. Finally, both the mother and son were released later due to lack of evidence. “I am a prisoner in Argentina for being Colombian. They want to try the ghost of Pablo Escobar because they want to prove that Argentina is combating drug trafficking.”

The couple, Matia Victoria Henao and Pablo Escobar got married in the month of March 1976. The couple dated for two years before getting married. When the couple was getting married, Henao was just 13 years old and Pablo was of 26 years old.

The saddest part? she did not know she was pregnant and believed that she was there in the clinic to receive a contraceptive.
