Peter was born on 18 August 1982 in Houston. His parents were Jesse and Patsy Swayze. His mother was a dance teacher and choreographer and owned a dance studio. His father was an engineering draftsman. He had four siblings and he was second in birth order. He had two younger brothers Don and Sean. His sisters were Vicki and Bambi.

His role in 1983’s the Outsiders was noticed and he got more offers after that. It was in 1987 in the film Dirty Dancing that his popularity rose. One Last Dance saw his acting and he was also the co-producer on it. He has a Hollywood Hall of Fame star which he received in 1997.

He took 3 years to completely recover from the massive injuries due to it and in 2000 he appeared in Forever Lulu. In 1982 after his father’s death, Patrick took to heavy drinking. In 1989, he created a ruckus in a hotel room and soon decided to cease this habit. He was successful for a while but in 1994 when his sister Vicki died, he again took to drinking. He credits his wife for helping him overcome this habit and both retired to their ranch in California and Las Vegas and started breeding Arabian horses.

Patrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer during the filming of The Beast. He continued to shoot for the film despite his chemotherapy. His cancer was advanced and he was put on an experimental drug. But he succumbed to it and expired on 14 September 2009. He had faced a number of death hoaxes which had disturbed him.
