Who is Johannes Rydzek?

Germam Nordic combined skier Johannes Rydzek was born in 1991.He’s been competing for Germany since 2006. Rydzek is nicknamed Richi and Jojo by his friends and family and he’s a student who is studying Economics and Engineering. He can speak two languages, English and German, fluently. He trained in the club SC 1906 Oberstdorf in Germany under coach Hermann Weinbuch who is on a national level. His sister Coletta competes in cross-country skiing at the international level. She won a bronze medal at the junior world championships in 2017. Rydzek, himself, made his World Cup Debut – 2008 in Kuusamo, Finland. In 2006 and 2007 he broke his right forearm. Career of the skier

Rydzek won a bronze medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Although that was his only win at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the coming years had more in store for him. He also won five World Cup races, his first win came in March 2011, in Lahti, Finland. Also in 2011, at the World Championships, he managed to finish second in the large hill Gundersen at Holmenkollen. He also won in Ruka, Finland, in 2014. This also marked the first time since 1976 that three German athletes managed to secure medals in the same Nordic combined event at Olympic Games. Rydzek secured another gold medal in the Men’s Team competition alongside Riessle, Frenzel and Vinzenz Geiger in the Olympics.
