Hilary Duff Wiki: Tv Show, Net Worth, ‘The Lizzie McGuire Movie’ & Facts To Know

Ever wondered about the TV show actress from The Lizzie McGuire Movie? We do too! Let’s take a look at Hilary Duff’s career and net worth.

Who is Hilary Duff?

Hilary Erhard Duff was born in Houston, Texas, in 1987 to Bob Duff and Susan Duff. You may also recognize her older sister, Haylie Duff, who is an actress as well. At a young age, it was obvious that Duff was made for acting. Hilary Duff and her sister Haylie took ballet classes and starred in local theater productions when Hilary was just eight years old. Fast forward to the year 2000, Hilary Duff landed the role of a lifetime that made her become a household name. Hilary Duff was cast in the leading role of a Disney Channel TV Show called Lizzie McGuire. Every teenage girl knew her name shortly after the show premiered.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie and TV Show

After landing the role of Lizzie, as stated above, Duff soon became a hit. From launching her own merchandise to the ever popular hair crimping years, Hilary Duff grew into a teen idol. When the show was released, it well exceeded its target age range. What was intended to be a show for teenage girls also became a favorite show for even college kids. Lizzie McGuire began in 2001 and ended with 65 episodes in 2004. From the popularity of the show, Disney saw fit that Lizzie McGuire as a character would do well in a film. Soon after, The Lizzie McGuire Movie was released May 2 of 2003. Lizzie/Hilary’s trip to Italy brought in over $55 million!

Hilary Duff’s acting didn’t stop there!

The Lizzie McGuire series was not Duff’s stopping point in the acting industry by any means. In 2003, Duff stared alongside Steve Martin in the movie remake of Cheaper By The Dozen. Cheaper By the Dozen 2 was released in 2005 where Duff reprised her character’s role as Lorraine Baker. Another major point in Duff’s acting career was her role as Sam in the film A Cinderella Story, a tale of a modern-day Cinderella that did decently well in box office totals. The film brought in around $51 million. In the same year as A Cinderella Story’s release, Hilary Duff came back in the spotlight of cinemas with her role as Terri Fletcher in the film Raise Your Voice, a movie about a small town girl enrolling in a performing arts school. If you search Rotten Tomatoes, you’ll find it only has a 15% calling it a “bland tween version of the movie Fame”. It’s safe to say Raise Your Voice wasn’t her greatest movie. Have you ever heard of a movie called Material Girls? In this movie, Hilary Duff was able to star alongside her older sister Haylie Duff. In the film, the two real-life sisters actually play sisters and heiresses to a family owning a cosmetic line that has made them rich. They also get a wake-up call stripping them of every cent, making them learn what it takes to survive in the world if you aren’t born into a rich family. Material Girls did not make it quite as big as A Cinderella Story in the box office either, unfortunately. Hilary Duff’s recent and most talked about acting adventure is going to be in a movie covering the late Hollywood actress Sharon Tate. Sharon Tate was murdered during the killing spree of Charles Manson. Reports say Tate was stabbed 16 times by one of Charles Manson’s followers. Hilary Duff will be telling her story by acting as the leading lady in the movie titled The Haunting of Sharon Tate that is said to be released in the upcoming year.

Hilary Duff’s Net Worth and Other Facts

If you thought Hilary Duff’s success ended with acting, she can also sing. Throughout her time in the Disney Channel scene, Duff was on a number of Disney Star albums along with singing in The Lizzie McGuire movie. Hilary Duff did break away and do her own solo album titled Metamorphosis during her time with Disney. Metamorphosis was her second studio album behind her first album titled Santa Clause Lane. You may be surprised to find out Duff also an author. Yes, you read that correctly. The Lizzie McGuire movie and TV show star has written a series of books. Beginning the series is her book titled Elixir. Elixir falls into the young adult genre as well as romance and fantasy. The novel, released in 2010, is currently sitting at 3.54 stars on goodreads.com. The second book in the series, titled Devoted, was dropped in 2011, followed by the third installment, True, in 2013. Each succeeding book averages about the same rating as the first. With that being said, I don’t think we will see a movie adaptation of Duff’s novels in the near future. After all her success in the acting industry and albums sold, one cannot help but guess at Duff’s net worth. At the last reporting, Hilary Duff’s net worth is sitting around $25 million.
