Dylan Christopher Minnette was born in Evansville, Indiana, on December 29, 1996, making him 23 years old. While there’s not much to mention about the largest city in Indiana and the 232nd-most populous city in the United States, Minnette is proving there’s a lot of accomplishments to make Evansville proud.

He is the only child of Robyn and Craig Minnette. He lived in Champaign, Illinois, for five years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

If there’s one thing phrase to describe the aura surrounding Minnette, it’s that he embodies the boy-next-door type of guy. Based on first impressions, one could perceive him to have the makings of a respectful boyfriend – you know, someone your parents would approve of, and a good friend.

But enough about appearances and first impressions, let’s get to know the facts about Minnette, shall we?

His Rise To Fame In The Entertainment World

Unsurprisingly, Minnette had his first acting role at the age of 9, where he appeared in a 2005 episode of Drake & Josh, a popular Nickelodeon series. He then had his first major film role in 2010, where he starred in the horror movie Let Me In. Minnette co-starred with Chloë Grace Moretz, Richard Jenkins, and Elias Koteas, among other well-known actors in the horror film directed by Matt Reeves.

His other gigs in the entertainment industry include appearing in the NBC original film The Year Without a Santa Claus, acting as an unnamed character in Fred Claus, playing Todd Lyons in The Clique, and acting as Noah Framm in Snow Buddies.

For his notable roles, Minnette played the young version of the Michael Scofield character in the phenomenal Fox series, Prison Break. He also took the part of Clay (another “Clay” character!) Norman, the young son of Grace’s late sister, Mary Frances, on the movie Saving Grace.

Oh, and in 2013, he starred alongside Hugh Jackman in the crime drama Prisoners. Then in 2016, he took yet another horror film in a fan-favorite Don’t Breathe. Minnette appears to be doing very well in horror films!

13 Reasons Why You Should Know Him

On top of acting as Clay Jensen on the hit Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, there are 13 other reasons why you should know more about Dylan Minnette, in case his rise to fame isn’t enough.

He appeared in Marvel

Yes, the BIG name, Marvel, even gave Minnette the opportunity to get in on the fun. He portrayed a guest-starring role as Donnie Gill in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Donnie is a shy student in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy’s Science Division who has curated many devices, including a Cryogenic Bomb, which could freeze a person.

We know 13 Reasons Why was a hit. If Katherine Langford, the one who plays Hannah Baker, was banking $80,000 per episode, we could only imagine how much Minnette was getting, given his lead role and background in the entertainment industry.

According to Stylecaster, Minnette was paid the same amount as Langford for the first two seasons of the series. However, when he became an important role in the third season, negotiations were set, and his pay got bumped up to $200,000 per episode.
Although not much is known regarding his pay for season 4, he would have gotten $2 million just from the final season if he did earn as much. This would make Minnette the highest-paid cast member of the show.

He’s acted with Jennifer Garner, Steve Carell, and Jack Black

We’ve mentioned some of the A-list actors and actresses that he’s co-starred with. But wait, there’s more. He acted with Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell in the film with a long title Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, a comedy film derived from a children’s book written by Judith Viorst.

Love Jack Black? Well, Minnette has also acted with this iconic individual in the 2015 movie adaptation of the popular children’s horror series Goosebumps.

He was in LOST

While not on the island with the rest of the gang, Minnette played the son of Jack Shephard and Juliet Carlson during the “sideways flashbacks” of the popular series.

He is active in social media

The post got more than 1.3 million likes with many netizens asking Minnette to marry her as he was “husband material.”

He likes experimenting

If you would head on down to his Instagram account, there’s one immediate thing you’d realize about Minnette – it’s that he likes to experiment – on his hair! You would see it go from blonde, cotton candy, blueberry blue, unicorn purple, even a nice shade of blue-green.

The topic of “Who is Dylan dating (and that he shouldn’t be dating anyone)” understandably became frequently searched on the Internet after fans fell in love with him in 13 Reasons Why. Well, sad to say, Minnette, is taken, ladies.

Back in 2018-ish, Minnette dated Ray Donovan actress Kerris Dorsey. They were going out for a few years by then, and according to Seventeen, sparks flew in 2014 when they were filming the movie with the long title mentioned above. The two played siblings in the movie.

Fans were shocked when upcoming 2019 (and everyone thought Dorsey and Minnette were still together), he began posting photos of a new girl – Lydia Night, the lead singer of the pop band The Regrettes. They have been cozying up on social media, and it appears that the two are in it for the long haul. Just look at this recent IG post of why Minnette is so “infinitely in love” with Knight.

When the series’ season 2 dropped, Minnette took to Twitter to post: “Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why, like season 1, can be unflinching, dark and even hard to watch at times. please view with caution, or with loved ones. if you or anyone you know would like resources after watching, please go to http://13reasonswhy.info  thank you.” He admits that it is an intense show to watch.

Furthermore, did you know he didn’t even read the book before auditioning for the series? Doesn’t matter cause he nailed the part.

Roles in more than two dozen TV shows

Scandal, Lost, Law & Order: SVU, and Grey’s Anatomy are only a few of the more than a dozen TV shows that Minnette has starred in – now that’s a lot!

Perhaps this explanation would explain why Minnette is currently with Knight (or not) – it’s because they’re both musicians and share the same passion! He helped form the band The Wallows and is a singer and guitarist for the group. If you’re interested, head on over to the YouTube link to their single, “Pleaser,” released in 2017, which is a really good indie-rock song about an unrequited crush.

The American alternative rock band is based in Los Angeles and comprises Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston. They began releasing independently in April 2017 with “Pleaser.”

He has played in a concert for autism awareness

In 2010, the band performed at “Summer Meltdown,” a concert to raise autism awareness. Plus, they won a battle of the band’s contest in the same year!

Here’s Lerman

Minnette has admitted that he gets mistaken for another actor all the time. Does Logan Lerman from Percy Jackson ring any bells? “Recently, I was at the airport, and before I even got on my flight, I got three different Percy Jackson encounters,” Minnette told EW. “One time, this guy at this music festival would not let me off the hook that I was Percy Jackson. He was like, ‘Quit lying to me, bro, I know you’re Percy Jackson.’ I was like, ‘I swear to God, I’m not Percy Jackson.'”

Despite the pandemic, the band has announced that their quarantine-made EP (Extended Play) entitled “Remote” will be released on October 23. “Nobody Gets Me (Like You)” is the EP’s lead single, and the entire set would be six tracks long.
