Darci Kistler is a noted American ballerina. She is often said to be the last muse for the choreographer, George Balanchine. Darci Kistler was born in Riverside, California. She was the fifth child of a medical doctor and his wife. Her brothers were quite good at amateur wrestling, water-skiing, basketball, football and even horseback riding. When she first received her tutu at the age of four, she never removed it. She also began ballet training the same year. Kistler got into ballet because she felt that in spite of being athletic she could never keep up with her brothers and ballet turned out to be her cornerstone which she had mastered. She got motivated after seeing a ballet performance of Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev. She studied the art at Mary Lynn’s Ballet Arts and later in Los Angeles. Kistler married Peter Martins in 1991. In July 1992, in Martins was arrested and even held for five hours. Kistler had called and phoned the police for help. Kistler later dropped the charges, saying that she preferred to resolve the matter without the court’s intervention. She wore heavy makeup to conceal her bruises two days later when she performed in a ballet. From their close friends and acquaintances it was revealed that this was not the first time Martins had hit Kistler. They have a daughter, Talicia Tove Martins, born in 1996. Talicia Martins was arrested in June 2017 from her parents’ home in Manhattan for possession of heroin, crack cocaine and hypodermic needle.
