Daniel Wass began playing football for BK Avarta’s youth team in 1995 and continued to do so until 2006. In the 2007-08 season, he made his debut for the Brondby Danish Superliga team. During the 2008-09 season, he made 36 appearances for the club, scoring once and assisting twice. On 1 July 2011, he signed a five-year contract with Benfica and was immediately loaned out to Evian Thonon Gaillard F.C. without appearing in any official games.
He made his league debut on 15 October 2011, providing an assist for Yannick Sagbo in a 2-1 loss to Saint-Etienne. On 20 June 2012, he joined Evian for a €2.5 million transfer fee.
