Chris Nelson is a former professional baseball player (infielder) from the USA. He has played baseball for several teams in the Major League Baseball.

Chris Nelson’s career

Chris Nelson used to play baseball for his high school namely Redan High School which was located in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He was an excellent player and during his school, he underwent the Tommy John surgery. He also played college baseball.

Chris Nelson and his professional tenure

Chris Nelson was selected by Colorado Rockies in the first round of the draft and was the 9th overall selection that year 2004. He was the recipient of the third-largest signing bonus in Rockies history. He also played for the Modesto Nuts and in the year 2007, he was named Rockies Farm Player of the month.

Nelson was a substitute for Troy Tulowitzki in 2010 when the latter broke his wrist and could not play. In September 2010, he played his best and made the Rockies win the game. It was his career’s first stolen base and the first time that he had managed to steal the home plate at any level.

His play in the year 2011 was a bit disappointing and he struggled a bit for it. He was named the third base starter in 2012 during the Spring Training.

Chris’ time with the New York Yankees

Chris was traded off to the New York Yankees in 2013. He was also designated for assignment in order to make room for David Adams on the roster.

He played for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and after that became a free agent. In January 2014, he signed with the Cincinnati Reds and was released 6 months later. He then signed with the San Diego Padres for a few months. In November 2014, he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies and after playing for them for 5-6 months, he went on to sign with the Milwaukee Brewers for a month. He also played for Washington Nationals for a month.

In 2016, Chris returned to Colorado Rockies. In March 2017, he signed with the Sugar Land Skeeters which were a part of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He also played for the Kansas City Royals. For the 2018 season, he was named as the bench coach for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Chris has been an excellent player and has also won several awards and titles. In 2006, he was the SAL Mid-Season All-Star, in 2007 he got the award of CAL Post-Season All-Star and Baseball America High-Class A All-Star and in 2008 Chris was the AFL Rising Stars.
