Charlie Sheen files a defamation case against National Enquirer
On 13 December 2017, American actor Charlie Sheen filed a legal suit against National Enquirer, American Media Inc., and Editor Dylan Howard. This was in response to the article in the tabloid which accused Charlie Sheen of having sodomized late actor Cory Haim on the sets of the film Lucas (1986).
Charlie Sheen had earlier denied the story and had accused Dylan of a personal revenge. He said:
“….because of a personal vendetta that arose after he was unable to be the first to break the story that I was HIV-positive in 2015.”
The tabloid had labeled Charlie as ‘twisted child molester’ and ‘ruthless adult rapist’. It had mentioned that during the rape, Charlie was 19 years old while Corey was only 13. The case has been filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. The court papers have mentioned that Charlie has teenaged kids and the story impacted them severely. The papers have also mentioned that Judy Haim (Corey’s mother) had denied that Charlie had raped her son. Charlie felt that the allegations were sordid and that he has hit his ‘breaking point’ by the false story.
