He is an American actor, screenwriter, producer, comedian, and musician and is best known for playing the role of Charlie Kelly on ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’. In film, he is known for his role as Dale in the films, ‘Horrible Bosses’ in 2011 and its 2014 sequel, ‘Horrible Bosses 2.’ He is also known for his roles in ‘Monsters University’ in 2013, ‘Pacific Rim’ in 2013, ‘The Lego Movie’ in 2014, ‘Fist Fight’ in 2017 and ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ in 2018. ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ is an American black comedy television series that first premiered on FX on August 4, 2005 and has since moved to FXX beginning with the ninth season. Horrible Bosses is a 2011 American black comedy movie directed by Seth Gordon, about three friends who conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness. His mother, Mary was a piano teacher and his father, Dr. Thomas Charles Day, is a retired professor of music history. Day grew up in Middletown, Rhode Island. He attended the Pennfield School and graduated from the Portsmouth Abbey School, both in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He was a part of the baseball team at the Portsmouth Abbey School, playing shortstop for the Ravens. In 1998, Day earned his bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. At Merrimack, he acted in the Onstagers, Merrimack’s student theater organization. He has also played varsity baseball for the Warriors baseball team. During the summers of his college years, he would participate in training programs at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts. In 2014, Day received an honorary doctorate in performing arts from Merrimack College. Day has been married to actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis since March 4, 2006. They met in 2001 and started dating in 2004 when they co-starred as incestuous siblings in ‘Reno 911!’. The couple had their first child, a son, in 2011.
