Bob Barker, 94 is an American TV personality who used to host the famous game show The Price is Right which aired on CBS. He was also a former host of Truth or Consequences (1956-1974).
Bob Barker and his early life and education
Bob Barker’s full name is Robert William Barker and he was born on 12 December 1923 in Darrington, Washington. He had a humble upbringing and spent his childhood at Rosebud Indian Reservation, South Dakota. His mother Matilda Valandra was a school teacher and his father Byron John Barker worked as a foreman on the electrical high line in Washington.
He belongs partly to the Sioux tribe. His father expired in 1929. His mother remarried and Bob has a half-brother called Kent Valandra.
In 1931, his family migrated to Missouri in the Springfield neighborhood and he studied in and graduated from Central High School in the year 1941.
Bob later joined Drury College and obtained a baseball scholarship. Around that time, World War II erupted and Bob joined the US Navy as a fighter pilot. After the war ended, he returned and completed his degree in economics from Drury College.

While doing college, Bob also took up a job in broadcasting and held a media job at the local KTTS-FM Radio. He was married by that time and moved to Lake Worth in Florida. He became the news editor and announcer at WWPG 1340 AM in Palm Beach.
He then shifted to CA for better prospects in broadcasting. He landed his own show called The Bob Barker Show and he ran it for 6 years. He also was doing a radio show which involved audience participation on KNX (AM). The game show producer Ralph Edwards liked Bob’s voice and style of talking.

Bob bagged the job of a host of the show Truth or Consequences and began doing it from December 1956. He hosted the show until 1974. He also became the host of End of the Rainbow but it lasted only for a year from 1957 to 1958. In 1967, he began to host The Family Game but this was also short-lived. He did a pilot for Simon Says in 1971. He also hosted a series called That’s My Line in 1980-1981.
In 1972, Bob got the chance to become the host of The Price is Right. This show soon gained in popularity and Bob ceased dyeing his hair and coming in his natural looks. He also became an executive producer of the show in 1988. It became the longest-running game show and in 2006 it was in its 35th year. He retired in June 2007. He had some guest appearances on it.

Bob Barker is married and his wife is his high school sweetheart whom he married in 1945 on 12 January. Her name was Dorothy Jo Gideon. She expired on 18 October 1981 due to lung cancer.
The couple had no children. He never remarried but was in a relationship with model Dian Parkinson from 1989 to 1991 and the couple split but there was some legal action following the breakup.
