Anthony Rendon is an American professional baseball player. He is currently a free agent. He used to be the third baseman for Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB).

In his middle school, Hodges Bend, he was a star basketball player, track athlete, and baseball player. After that, he attended George Bush High School but transferred to Lamar High School after two and a half years.
After the completion of his high school, the MLB team Atlanta Braves offered him a draft. He turned down the offer and decided to join Rice University to play instead for the head coach Wayne Graham.
Anthony Rendon: College Career
Anthony Rendon was nominated for both the Dick Howser Trophy and the Golden Spikes Award in his first-ever season at the college level. He hit .388 with 20 home runs and 72 runs batted in, starting in all 61 of the games for the Owls. He led the conference in a number of offensive categories which included batting average, slugging percentage, and home runs and set a new Rice freshmen record at 20.
In his last game, he suffered an ankle injury and got surgery. In 2009, he received a number of accolades including ‘Baseball America’s Freshman of the Year’, ‘Conference USA Player of the Year’, among others.
He hit .394 hitting, 26 home runs and 85 runs batted in 2010. After his Rice season ended, he went to represent his country and played on the international circuit for Team USA. Unfortunately, he suffered from yet another ankle injury in the very first game. The Houston mayor Annise Parker declared June 29, 2010, to be named ‘Anthony Rendon Day in Houston’.
Anthony Rendon: Washington Nationals Career
The MLB outfit, Washington Nationals selected him in the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. In the 2013 season, he mostly played as the second base. He finished the season putting up a .265/.329/.396 triple slash with seven home runs across 98 games with the club.
In 2014, he moved back to his original position, the third baseman. He led the National League in runs scored with 111 runs putting up a .287/.351/.473 slash line, hitting 21 home runs and stealing 17 bases. He was even placed fifth in National League MVP voting and won Silver Slugger Awards for his incredible performance.

Rendon had a tough start in 2015 as he sprained the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. In 2016, he returned in the batting line and hit .270/.348/.450 with 20 home runs. He played exclusively as the third baseman and made appearances in most of the regular-season games, missing only six games. He even got the title of the National League Comeback Player of the Year.
In 2017, he led all National League position players in wins during the first half of the season. However, he didn’t get to participate in the All-Star Game. In this season, he batted .301/.403/.533 with 25 home runs. He batted .308 (4th in the NL)/.374/.535 (7th in the NL) with 24 home runs and also led the National League with 44 doubles in 2018.
In 2019, he batted .319/.412/.598 with 34 home runs and once again led the NL with 44 doubles, and led the majors in RBIs (126). Currently, he is a free agent.
